Reclaiming Sexual Wellness for Women and Moms

Help your clients bridge the gap between the reproductive lens and pleasure.

Why is talking about sex so vital in the therapy room?

Most clients want their therapists to ask about sexual health, yet a stalemate of silence often persists in the room. This training helps you dismantle the barriers that keep these conversations off the table.

What we’ll talk about:

  • Patriarchal Scripts: Moving from "Performance" to "Presence."

  • Biological Muting: Reconnecting with the body beyond the reproductive lens.

  • Clinician Internal Narratives: Overcoming the fear of being "intrusive."

What you’ll learn:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the "Good Girl" Blueprint: Recognize at least three societal narratives (such as the "caretaker" vs. "sexual being" divide) that lead to a performance-based relationship with the body.

  2. Explain the "Biological Disconnect": Describe how early medicalization or hormonal history can unintentionally "quiet" a woman’s connection to her own physical sensations and sexual identity.

  3. Contrast "Function" vs. "Feeling": Identify the "Procreation Pivot" in clients who are trying to conceive and how sex shifts from a source of pleasure to a high-pressure clinical task.

  4. Analyze the "Touched-Out" Nervous System: Explain the physiological "sensory overload" of motherhood and why a partner's touch can be perceived as a demand rather than a connection.

  5. Identify the Clinician’s Internal Narrative: Use self-reflection to recognize the internal filters we carry about sexual wellness, and how these can unintentionally create a barrier to opening the clinical door with ease.

  6. Use Low-Pressure Scripts: Practice two approachable ways to initiate a conversation about sexual wellness that feel like an invitation rather than an intrusion.
